Pearson Edexcel has helped thousands of people make progress in their lives, whether in the classroom or in the workplace. By combining world-class qualification standards with a forward-thinking approach and International content, their qualifications are the ideal pathway to today’s top universities, offering learners access to tomorrow’s global opportunities.
Advantages of Edexcel International GCSE curriculum:
The Edexcel curriculum is one of the most recognized qualifications around the world. International GCSE courses are renowned for developing vital educational skills, including recall of knowledge, oral skills, problem solving, initiative teamwork and investigative skills. Edexcel International GCSE offers a flexible course of study that gives candidates the freedom to choose subjects that are right for them, while providing them with a broad knowledge base and lifelong skills. This world class curriculum is ‘student friendly’ and helps the students to ‘think out of the box’. The resulting qualification provides a foundation for higher level courses, such as levels, the Advanced International Certificate of Education, the North American Advanced Placement program and International Baccalaureate and Intermediate Education in State and Central Schools.
Grades and Marking in Edexcel
Students are awarded raw marks for each exam paper and for any coursework that they have completed. These marks are added together to give an overall mark. During the awarding process, Edexcel decides where the grade boundaries lie and students are awarded a grade based on where their mark lies within these boundaries. Students’ overall raw marks are converted into the Uniform Mark Scale (UMS) marks to take account of variations in difficulty between papers.
Grades may vary slightly in difficulty from year to year. For example, a mark of 58 in one paper in a January exam session might represent the same level of achievement as a mark of 42 in a different version of the same paper in the following summer exam session. The UMS ensures that these two marks have the same value when contributing to the final grade.
